Short Solent Flying Boat
Used under extremes of flying conditions.

"SOLENT FLYING BOATS have been in use by T.E.A.L. for a period of two years. We are operating them on two high-density trans-Tasman routes between New Zealand and Australia, on the route from Wellington to the remote Chatham islands and on the Auckland to Fiji service. Shortly they are to commence operations on our new Coral Route service to Western Samoa, the-Cook Islands and Tahiti. Shorts Solents are thereforebeing used under extremes of climatic conditions. They are performing extremely well and have established a fine record of reliability on high-frequency services."

After two years' experience of these aircraft on high-density routes the Assistant General Manager, Mr. J. W. Veale sent us this appreciation of the highly satisfactory service which the Short Solent flying boats have afforded to Tasman Empire Airways Ltd. of New Zealand.

Short built flying boats are operated by Tasman Empire Airways in New Zealand; TransOceanic Airways, QantasEmpire Airways and Barrier Reef Airways in Australia;Aerolineas Argentinas in the Argentine; C.A.U.S.A.in Uruguay; Aquila Airways in the United Kingdom andWest Norway Airlines in Norway.
