AIRSPEED COURIER G-ABXN - WITH THE
RETRACTOR UNDERCARRIAGE. Prototype Courier pictured- circa April 1933. It
was used in aerial refuelling trials by Sir Alan Cobham, (Handley Page W10's as
tankers). G-ABXN attempted a non-stop flight to India with aerial refuelling in September 24, 1934. The attempt was abandoned at Malta, due to a broken throttle, G-ABXN suffering some damage. The aircraft was impressed into the RAF in June 1940, s/n X9427 - The eventual fate of the aircraft is not known at this time. * Ad Link |
