Each specifically built for investigation of different aspects of high altitude operation.

To the long range jet aircraft all aspects of high altitude operation present many problems whic will be scientifically explored by the Avro Ashton. Several of these aircraft are being built for research and development work at heights of 40,000 ft and more.

Each aircraft in the series will be devoted to one specialised branch of investigation and will provide many of the answers to the problems which the less conventional aircraft of the future.
